Cooki’s decades of experience and best-practice acumen help give you an edge when searching for the perfect breeder.
Breeding Practice
Proper breeding technique is the biggest thing to know when searching for a Poodle breeder. Any and every legitimate dog breeder should be able to provide lineage and demonstrate an incredible understanding of the dog’s family tree. A further step in the right direction is the puppy parent’s genetic testing.
BE SURE that whichever breeder you contact makes you feel comfortable knowing that the puppy you’re hoping to take home to your family is indeed conceived properly. Cooki will leave no question of this and has been practicing proper line-breeding since day one.
Health and Wellness
Before a puppy can ever be brought into their forever family, they must receive a clean bill of health in form of their Florida state health certificate, issued by a licensed veterinarian and verified by the state of Florida’s department of agriculture. IF THE PUPPY DOES NOT HAVE THIS there is no guarantee of healthy status and no verification of any shots or wormings.
Each puppy must be administered their proper vaccinations and dewormed prior to ever going home with an adoptive family. The family must follow through upon adoption by taking the puppy to their veterinarian who will further and finalize the vaccination and worming process. But, IT IS UP TO THE BREEDER to provide proof that your puppy has indeed had the first rounds of vaccinations and have been dewormed prior to the puppy’s pick up date. These records are only certified by a licensed veterinarian.
Poodles by Cooki will always provide proof of the puppy’s health status.
Meet the Parents
The puppy’s parents should be on-site. For example, when you go to visit or pick up your Poodle, Cooki will have both parents of the poodle puppy there to greet you. By meeting the puppy’s parents, or becoming familiar with them via photo/video correspondence, this will give you valuable insight into what to expect from your puppy as they grow older. This means how they may act, their demeanor and temperament, along with their looks, size, and disposition.
Having the parents there, and meeting them too, reassures a prospective new family that the breeder does indeed take good care of their dogs. One can immediately see how a dog is by their interaction with their family, or even by watching them play with the other dogs.
Transparency is a great sign of efficacy. In the case of dog breeders, Cooki is always transparent with her dogs and practices She has, and continues to, consistently demonstrate “Poodle-literacy” for every family she’s placed her puppies with.
BONUS - Living Conditions
Any reputable and trustworthy breeder will happily invite you into their home or facilities. When visiting for the first time, be sure to take mental note of the cleanliness and general living conditions.
Encourage the breeder to let you visit the puppy. A legitimate dog breeder should have no problem with you stopping by. Cooki encourages visits and believes that every interaction you have with your puppy before they come home with you will enrich both the puppy’s and your family’s relationship. Each visit will help your puppy develop even more so and ease the transition from our home into yours as the puppy will already be familiar and comfortable, knowing exactly who you are.
